Klarna Limits by Country: What Applies to High-Value Bookings on trvl.gr

The "Book Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) model has changed how we book holidays, letting trvl.gr travellers pay for their stay in 3 interest-free instalments.

At checkout, some travellers see fewer options than they expected. This is neither an error nor a declined booking: Klarna simply did not offer instalments for that particular transaction. Paying with Klarna in full remains available.

What Klarna itself says about limits

Klarna is explicit: there is no pre-set spending limit. Every time you pay, a new automated approval decision is made about how much you can spend. Eligibility is based on factors such as:

• your payment history with Klarna

• your outstanding balance

• the total amount in your cart

• Klarna's ability to identify you

A good payment history and paying off your outstanding purchases on time can raise your spending limit over time. Klarna's customer service agents cannot change or influence these automated decisions.

Two things that often get confused

Which plans exist in your market is one thing; how much you personally get approved for is another. The first is a commercial setting Klarna applies per country, shown in the table below. The second is your own assessment, made at the moment of payment. The famous "€1,000 limit" belongs to the first — it is not your limit.

The ranges below are published by Stripe for Klarna. They are not statutory limits: Klarna sets them and adjusts them at its own discretion.

Belgium 🇧🇪 does not offer a 3-instalment plan; there Klarna offers paying in full or paying in 30 days. In Greece, paying in full with Klarna goes up to €4,000 and paying in 30 days up to €500.

How your country is determined

Klarna does not look at the issuing country of your card. Your country comes from your address and, where that is missing, from the location of your connection. If you are travelling or using a VPN, you may see different options than you expect.

Higher-value bookings: what to do

1. Try the single booking first. Since there is no pre-set limit, there is no reason to split your booking pre-emptively. Plenty of travellers are approved for instalments well above €1,000.

2. If instalments are not offered, pay in full with Klarna. The booking is secured immediately and you keep Klarna's buyer protection.

3. Or pay by card. trvl.gr accepts credit and debit cards for the full amount.

4. As a last resort, split the stay into two bookings. Book the first nights with Klarna and the rest with another payment method, in the same name. At check-in, show both booking references so the property can merge them and you do not have to change rooms.

One practical note: because your outstanding balance counts towards the decision, paying off instalments from other purchases before booking improves your chances.
