How to reach Thasos: For arriving in the island of Thasos you have to take the ferry-boat from the post of Kavala (60') or Keramoti (30') By plane: The island has no airport, but is served by the International Airport of Kavala. From Athens to Kavala there are several scheduled flights daily.The airport Alexander the Great in Chrissoupoli is 30km east of Kavala. There are also flights from major European cities, several times a week. The airport is 13km from the Port of Keramoti, where there are ships that carry you to the main town (30 minutes). By car: There are excellent roads connecting all major cities in the region. Approximately it takes 2 hours (165kms) for someone to reach the port of Kavala by car from Thessaloniki. It is about the same time from here to the last European City to the east, Alexandroupolis (174kms). Ferryboat: Ferries connect the island with Kavala (1 hr) and with Keramoti (30 minutes). There is daily connection by ferryboat between Kavala;; Thassos (17 m), Kavala;; Prinos (13m), Keramoti;; Thassos (6m), as well Hydrofoils connect the island with Kavala (30 min). By bus:You can arrive in Kavala from Athens or Thesaloniki by using the public bus service of Kavala . By train: You can use the Greek railways to travel to the Drama ,to Xanthi. The trip takes about 7.5 hours from Athens. When arrive in Drama, Xanthi, take the bus to Kavala or Keramoti. By ship: Sea lines connect Kavala with the North Aegean islands and Piraeus all year round, while the summer months Kavala is connected with almost all the Aegean islands. At the island: There are daily buses that serve all the villages. The 100-kilometer road network is in very good condition.
