The building The building that now forms Alcanea dates from the Venetian period and was the office of the Greek revolutionary and statesman, Eleftherios Venizelos, for 24 years. It was fully restored during the spring of 2011 with great sensitivity to the preservation and conservation of the building’s architectural heritage. The enchanting complex of terraces and patios, the well-preserved hand-carved stone facades, the colourful ceramics, the elaborate woodwork and decorative elements all maintain a perfect balance between tradition and modern comforts. Kindly note that Alcanea is conveniently situated in the historic port of Chania. This particular area is exclusively for pedestrians, ensuring a car-free environment. While our 4 star boutique hotel does not provide private parking facilities, there is a spacious municipal parking area (Talos square) located directly behind the hotel, where you can park free of charge. Once you have safely parked your vehicle, you can easily access the Old City by walking through Theotokopoulou street. As you proceed, you will find Alcanea on the third alley to your left, a brief walk of no more than 2 minutes.
